I Am Legend!

So I took my hubby out yesterday for a day all about him, we went and got two new xbox games and a new controller, ate his favorite lunch and went to go see I am Legend. Okay the movie was okay, but let me go off for a minute about movie ettiquette . . .

1. You are watching a movie in public not your bedroom, so don't fall asleep. If you do fall asleep try your hardest not to snore so loud that you have the entire theatre laughing at you.

2. If a movie is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and intense violence, you probably should not take your 5 year old to go see it.

a. and when she starts bawling, don't cuddle her while you continue to watch the movie and everyone is watching in horror as a 5 years old is screaming at the zoombie like creatures.

3. In a military town, don't go running into a theatre with a friend, then stop and look at everyone while your friend runs up to the emergency exit door with his hand on it like he is going to make a run for it becuase now you have everyone looking at you, ready to take you down

4. If you are 13, you may find movie stairs a great way to exercise, but it definitely isn't a good idea to do it with a few of your friends and during a movie!

5. Answering a phone and saying "I can't talk right now I am in a movie" is not the same thing as not answering the phone completely during a movie. If it is an emergency, just step out for a moment, we all don't want to hear what your plans for the evening are and that doesn't count as an emergency!

So like I said I am Legend is an okay movie once we were able to watch it, its a triple remake but its got Will Smith who was pretty good! But are we the only ones that find movie etiquette to no longer exist?

Welcome Asher Ethan Joyce

So Shaina was scheduled to be induced on the morning of the 11th. I checked on her that morning and that afternoon and she was progressing really well. When I arrived after work, that girl was in some pain!!!!! I stopped by just to say hi and I was designated the job of paparazzi as soon as Asher came into this world. Let me tell you a few things....

1. Shaina is absolutely the toughest most dedicated girl I know, she did a great job especially since her epideral didn't work

2. Kevin was a trooper, he never left her side, encouraged her the whole time, letting her know it would all be okay!

3. I will be adopting :)

Just kidding, it was an amazing experience and Asher came flying out after only 30 minutes of pushing (only.... yeah right!) Watching the bond that Shaina, Kevin and Asher immediately had was nothing short of incredible! He was 7lbs, 15 oz and 21 inches long! Shaina did a great job and I am sure he is well worth everything they have gone through. There were a few problems with her blood pressure for 2 days but she is now back at home, trying to find a sleep pattern with Asher.

Earlier she was holding him and I looked over and she had her face smooshed to his head. I asked her what she was doing.... she looked all guilty and said "smelling him", Kevin made a joke and then came over and smelled him too :) I'm telling you that this is one lucky kid to have such loving parents. Way to go Joyces!

Annapolis Wedding

So we had our first vacation/out of town trip as a married couple this past weekend. We flew up in to Baltimore, MD and stayed in Annapolis. One of Mia's classmates from the Academy was getting married and Mia was to be a member of her sword arch. We were greeted in Baltimore by nasty, cold rain. Let me make a side note here and say that if you ever travel to a city where they have roundabouts(or whatever the heck they call em) it is well worth spending the extra money to get a rent car with a GPS unit in it. We never would have made it through the weekend without that thing. Anyways, we went through a quick rehearsal and then had dinner at a cozy place called the Federal Tavern. Saturday found us sleeping in and enjoying a little well deserved R&R. We roused ourselves and went into Annapolis for a quick trip to the Naval Academy for a few gifts for some friends. We grabbed lunch with our friends Brad and Christina at a crabhouse called Bubba's. The conversation and company were great and the food was good I guess, my knowledge of seafood stops where the Gulf Coast ends...let me just say that my wife looks striking in her uniform and Annapolis just happens to be crawling with Naval Academy spawn who repeatedly ducked, hid, ran from her in an effort to not have to salute her. I just want to say at this point that those poor little fools don't know how close to death they came that day in trying to weasel out of saluting my wife. I coulda killed the whole lot of em. But I digress. After lunch I dropped Mia off at the church and hurried back to the hotel to throw my suit on and return only to be made late to the wedding by Yankee traffic. Whoever invented the roundabout should be beat with a stick! I finally make it back to the church and only end up being about five minutes late. The wedding was beautiful, the bride looked amazing as did the groom. It was a short and sweet ceremony. We then proceeded down the street to the Fleet Reserve Club for the reception. The wedding was small and very intimate as far as number of people so they had reserved a private room at the fleet club. The room was deck out to the 9's complete with an incredible Christmas tree in the back corner. They had a live jazz band and a great buffet. We relaxed and danced the night away and then sent the happy couple off in a hail of bubbles. We closed the night out with a long chilly walk back to our cars and then off to our prospective hotels. Mia and I flew back the next morning and spent the rest of our Sunday relaxing and soaking up time with each other catching up on TIVO'd shows. We had a really good time in Annapolis and were fortunate enough to catch up with some old friends along the way and even made a few new ones too. Maryland is nice but we sure where happy to be back in warm and sunny Texas...

To Refrigerate or not to refrigerate.... that is the question!

So as you know, Jonathan and I splurged with some of our wedding money and savings and purchased a refrigerator 2 months ago. Ours was slowly dying and we had to do something, so off we went to compare and shop around. We finally decided on a good deal and found a great fridge. We have gotten so many wonderful compliments on it and we love everyting about it. So imagine our surprise on Friday morning when I open the fridge and find that all the liquid containers are sweating on the outside. Hmmm.... it feels cold... it has the light on it..... but I don't think that it is working. Come to find out, nope its not working, it has just stopped cooling all together. Did I mention that it is two months old. So Jonathan calls the place where we bought it and remains on hold for forever. So Shaina and I, like the good wives we are, decide that we are still going to go to our movie as planned and come back and deal with this. The guys opt to stay behind and handle things.... don't forget the brand new XBOX is still at the house..... as we go see August Rush (GREAT MOVIE) So I call Jonathan once the movie ends to see what is going on. He says the repair place can't come out until Monday to fix it. So I ask " So did you guys already move to food to Mary and Andy's or are you still working on it" His reply "Ummm we were supposed to do that" after a long pause, I say "Okay we are headed home" So I relay my conversation to Shaina and we are trying to figure out what the guys have been doing for the last 2 hours (XBOX) and you know what is going through our heads. So we get back and I see Jonathan's truck in the driveway, inside the bed of the truck are boxes and coolers and we realize, that the guys made it sound like they didn't move anything to get a rise out of us. Okay GAME ON. So we go in there and settle in and don't mention anything which then takes all the fun out of the guys joke. So JT says "well you ready to move the food" and I say as I look in the fridge " Nope because you guys already did it " SNAP :) Okay Boo on me for believing that they would just sit around but HA for us getting them back. So long story short, the repair guy is supposed to come today and hopefully we can no longer have to rely on the good graces of the Cochran's fridge and quit eating soup :)

Good Wife vs. Bad Wife

So like a good new wife, I went the Weds before Thanksgiving to get my husband the Christmas gift that he has been begging for, XBOX 360. But when I went to pick it up the game, so I didn't have to be one of the crazy ones on the Friday after Thanksgiving, they told me that they had already taken them all off the shelves to make sure that they had enough for Friday's sales. No problem, I told the salesman, I'll just come some time after. Well, he said, we may not get alot more in before Christmas and definitely not at the sale prices. OH NO, so your telling me my only option is to come on Friday morning huh? Yup, he states, but if you get here around the same time I do, I promise to save you a ticket for the XBOX no matter where you are in line. Okay I agree, I will be there and do this for my husband, what time do I need to be there. 2 AM!!!!!! Okay so I go to bed early and get all my clothes ready to stand in the cold for 3 hours just for my hubby, but I get a call around 10pm. It's Shaina, letting me know that the line for Best Buy is going past another store, down the side of the building and behind the building. People have been there since 5pm and brought tents. Oh well, I'm not going there now, I'm still going to stick with my 2AM plan. So the alarm goes off and away I go, with muffins in my pocket and a tactical flashlight just in case (hey it's 2am and I am going to be behind a building in the dark with crazy shopping people) I wait and wait and wait and get some people to save my spot so I can see what is going on up front, SWEET, I find the sales guy and get my ticket and the line is moving from people taking down their tents etc etc. So I get in there, find my killer deal, make my purchase, go home and crawl into bed! Well if you know me, you know that I LOVE giving gifts and I have no will power. So when my husband comes home from work, I ask him if he can put this box in the trunk of my car for me.... I sneak out to watch his surprise and he opens the trunk...... and slams it shut immediately. He thought that he had ruined a surprise and didn't know what to do, but I quickly let him know it's for now and he can play it all he wants. So for the next 4 hours, as I clean up, crochet, eat a little breakfast, crochet, etc etc. Kevin and Jonathan are playing XBOX in the back room. So here is my question, was I a good wife for giving the gift, or a bad wife for not waiting :)

Imagine Fellowship

Its Thursday afternoon and we're heading up to San Antonio for something special. Very close friends of ours, Kevin and Shaina, are stepping out in Faith and starting a new church on the northwest side of San Antonio. We decided to head up with them and be a part of one of their core group meetings. Our hosts for the evening are incredible people. They've recognized God's call to them and opened up their home for all the planning meetings. They're unbelieveable, they take us to dinner, and they even keep Mia for the night because she's traveling to Dallas the next day. Anyways, so people start to pour into the house. We meet alot of interesting people, a good mix of young and old alike. The atmosphere is one of honest bonding between people. Kevin speaks for a short time and finishes with a snippet of his vision for Imagine Fellowship. His heart for a place where people can come as they are is evident in his speach. He has a genuine heart for his mission and the passion to pursue it into existence.

We really enjoyed being a part of what is happening in San Antonio even if only for a night. We got to see the a small glimpse of the birthing of Imagine Fellowship and the people that are making it happen. It was amazing to see the lives that were already being changed and the friendships and bonds that being formed in thhis fledgling church. We are excited to see that lies ahead for Kevin and Shaina and Imagine Fellowship.

Married For One Month

Welcome to our crazy world that we refer to as our life! We were asked by a few people to start up a blog so they can keep up with our lives a little bit easier so here we are, one month newly married and starting our first blog :) So much has changed in the past month. I married the most wonderful man in the world and then we spent 8 days in bliss in Rivera Maya enjoying the beach and just being able to spend time with each other. Coming back home, I headed back to work at Bay Area Fellowship, while Jonathan had the great fortune of being off work for another week and so therefore got to stay home, unpack and play with all the wedding gifts :) So that is what is going on with us so far, we may have to back track a bit but we promise to keep everyone involved in our married life and we hope that you enjoy our randomness! Blessings to you all!
