I was tagged

So I was tagged by Christina to name 8 interesting facts about myself so here we go.

1. I am a adopt-a-puppy-from-the-pound aholic. I used to love doing fostering of puppies or hurt dogs from the pound (and look forward to doing it again some day soon). I love sharing them with my friends and watching one of them adopt them, or turning them from a scared dog to a loving fun everyone loves dog that gets adopted.
2. I was in a secret relationship for 2 years, and love the outcome of it. I got to marry my best friend and we have enough stories to put a small book together, possibly called an Officer and a Gentleman ;)
3. I work out in the early morning because I am lazy. Does that make sense? When I get home and settle in to being home from work, I won't leave again to go get sweaty at a gym or anything else like that, therefore lazy!
4. One of my legs is longer then the other which makes one of my pant legs on my jeans get stepped on more and wore through quicker.
5. I like to be messy and then organize on the weekends. I am messier when my husband is at work and try to be cleaner when he is at home to set the example (but don't tell him that one!) ;)
6. I can't sit still during a movie at home, I have to be doing more then one thing at a time! While I am at home, I sit there thinking of all the stuff that needs to be done!
7. I am in love with music, I love to sing it, I love to play it on instruments and I especially love to dance to it. And it's every different kind besides hard rock that I can't understand the words too which then takes all the fun out of it
8. I thoroughly and surprisedly love taking care of my husband and best friend, mostly because he does the same to me

I tag anyone who reads this ;)

Blessed Beyond Belief

Who do we call when we need to vent?
Who will be there for us with a shoulder to cry on?
Who can we call to laugh with us when we do something really dumb?
Who will plan vacations for us because that's not our specialty?
Who will support us in whatever decisions we make?
Who will encourage us to be the best that we can be?

Luckily these are questions that we never need to ask ourselves. I have been surrounded... no let me rephrase that, our friends and family have surrounded us with such love, support, hope and encouragement, we couldn't ask for more. Jonathan and I are completely and truly blessed to have so many people in our lives that care about us and support us. So you guys know who you are, so we thank you!

Happy 2008

So we started out the New Years Eve by stopping by Chad and Monica Streets (friends of Mia's from high school). We go in thinking that we are just stopping in before their party and that we will only be a minute and try to steal a few minutes from them before their company comes over. Let's just say that we stayed longer then intended for all the right reasons. Chad and Monica purchased a fixer uper house about a year and a half ago, and Chad is completely blessed with the talent to do just that. Together the two of them have put together an amazing house and it was so great to be able to see all the things that they have added, changed, knocked out etc etc. While we were there Kevin and his new wife Sarah came over (Monica's brother and new sister in law) and so we spent a few moments with them as well. After a while a few of their guests arrived so we bid our adieu and headed out to the next New Years Eve party! (by the way stand by for pics of their place, it is gorgeous and if you are looking for any interior design stuff Chad is your guy!

So we arrive at our next party in Coppell Texas, and met all the people that were already there and we immediately fell into the crowd. Then we hear THE laughter. . . for all you people in Corpus you know who I am talking about :) Michelle. She finally made it over and once again we all fell into easy conversation catching up on each others life and drama :) We love getting together with old friends and catching up and we sure miss them when they are away!

This isn't my story so I won't say names or give too much away but at the new Years party we were at the hosts announced to the guests and their parents that they were having a baby. Wow you say...but here's how they did it. They gathered everyone and then gave the two sets of parents a small gift, as a token of grattitude for being in their lives(so they said) As the two sets of parents unwrap the gift it turns out to be a hershey's chocolate bar. But they had taken a Sharpie and blacked out all the letters so one bar said SHE and the other HE. The parents all look at each other and say "what's this?" The which they reply "We'll let you know in nine months!" Very cool and very exciting for them! We wish them the best(you know who you are).

So out comes the champagne for the ladies and cigars for the guys :) Everyone was passing out congrats and excitement just filled the air! So as midnight approaches our hostess tells the guys that they have five minutes left to finish up those cigars and then turns to the host to say " and you won't get a good kiss smelling like those :)" Oops, so out comes the gum and freshing up. I find my wif (and no that isn't a mispell) and count down the last 5 seconds and we wish each other a Happy New Years and end it with a kiss!

Here's us wishing you a Happy New Year and many blessings to you in 08.

Our First Christmas!!!

Tidden's First Christmas! Sounds exciting doesn't it?! Well...not so much. It was honestly pretty calm. We made it in to the Tidden parents place late Christmas Eve. Christmas morning was a flurry of wrapping paper. My dad does this thing were he finds the most sedate of gifts and then proceeds to unwrap it as if he's winning the lotto complete with an excited lap around the house hootin an hollerin like a crazy person, Its a sight to see. We spent a few days relaxing with the fam. We managed to squeeze in a little time to ourselves and got to go ice skating together with intermitent moments of my little brother flying by and then crashing to the ice. Drove home on Friday because Mia had to work and then packed up again to drive to Dallas for New Years and a belated Christmas with Mia's parents. Made it to Dallas and spent two days with Mia's mom celebrating Christmas and spending time together. Then off to a New Years party were we partyed like rock stars(more to come in a future blog) Spent the night in a hotel so we wouldn't have to be on the road with all the drunks and crazies. Then it was off to see Mia's dad. We've spent the day relaxing and us men have been watching football all day and the women soaked up a chic flick. We'll be driving back to Corpus tomorrow but making a stop in San Antonio to see Asher(oh and Kev and Shaina too I guess) We've been having seperation anxiety since they moved out (they stayed with us for a couple weeks before Shaina had the baby) All in all we've done alot of driving but been blessed to have all this time off to be able to go visit family and a few friends along the way. We hope you're Christmas was as good as ours!

I Am Legend!

So I took my hubby out yesterday for a day all about him, we went and got two new xbox games and a new controller, ate his favorite lunch and went to go see I am Legend. Okay the movie was okay, but let me go off for a minute about movie ettiquette . . .

1. You are watching a movie in public not your bedroom, so don't fall asleep. If you do fall asleep try your hardest not to snore so loud that you have the entire theatre laughing at you.

2. If a movie is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and intense violence, you probably should not take your 5 year old to go see it.

a. and when she starts bawling, don't cuddle her while you continue to watch the movie and everyone is watching in horror as a 5 years old is screaming at the zoombie like creatures.

3. In a military town, don't go running into a theatre with a friend, then stop and look at everyone while your friend runs up to the emergency exit door with his hand on it like he is going to make a run for it becuase now you have everyone looking at you, ready to take you down

4. If you are 13, you may find movie stairs a great way to exercise, but it definitely isn't a good idea to do it with a few of your friends and during a movie!

5. Answering a phone and saying "I can't talk right now I am in a movie" is not the same thing as not answering the phone completely during a movie. If it is an emergency, just step out for a moment, we all don't want to hear what your plans for the evening are and that doesn't count as an emergency!

So like I said I am Legend is an okay movie once we were able to watch it, its a triple remake but its got Will Smith who was pretty good! But are we the only ones that find movie etiquette to no longer exist?

Welcome Asher Ethan Joyce

So Shaina was scheduled to be induced on the morning of the 11th. I checked on her that morning and that afternoon and she was progressing really well. When I arrived after work, that girl was in some pain!!!!! I stopped by just to say hi and I was designated the job of paparazzi as soon as Asher came into this world. Let me tell you a few things....

1. Shaina is absolutely the toughest most dedicated girl I know, she did a great job especially since her epideral didn't work

2. Kevin was a trooper, he never left her side, encouraged her the whole time, letting her know it would all be okay!

3. I will be adopting :)

Just kidding, it was an amazing experience and Asher came flying out after only 30 minutes of pushing (only.... yeah right!) Watching the bond that Shaina, Kevin and Asher immediately had was nothing short of incredible! He was 7lbs, 15 oz and 21 inches long! Shaina did a great job and I am sure he is well worth everything they have gone through. There were a few problems with her blood pressure for 2 days but she is now back at home, trying to find a sleep pattern with Asher.

Earlier she was holding him and I looked over and she had her face smooshed to his head. I asked her what she was doing.... she looked all guilty and said "smelling him", Kevin made a joke and then came over and smelled him too :) I'm telling you that this is one lucky kid to have such loving parents. Way to go Joyces!

Annapolis Wedding

So we had our first vacation/out of town trip as a married couple this past weekend. We flew up in to Baltimore, MD and stayed in Annapolis. One of Mia's classmates from the Academy was getting married and Mia was to be a member of her sword arch. We were greeted in Baltimore by nasty, cold rain. Let me make a side note here and say that if you ever travel to a city where they have roundabouts(or whatever the heck they call em) it is well worth spending the extra money to get a rent car with a GPS unit in it. We never would have made it through the weekend without that thing. Anyways, we went through a quick rehearsal and then had dinner at a cozy place called the Federal Tavern. Saturday found us sleeping in and enjoying a little well deserved R&R. We roused ourselves and went into Annapolis for a quick trip to the Naval Academy for a few gifts for some friends. We grabbed lunch with our friends Brad and Christina at a crabhouse called Bubba's. The conversation and company were great and the food was good I guess, my knowledge of seafood stops where the Gulf Coast ends...let me just say that my wife looks striking in her uniform and Annapolis just happens to be crawling with Naval Academy spawn who repeatedly ducked, hid, ran from her in an effort to not have to salute her. I just want to say at this point that those poor little fools don't know how close to death they came that day in trying to weasel out of saluting my wife. I coulda killed the whole lot of em. But I digress. After lunch I dropped Mia off at the church and hurried back to the hotel to throw my suit on and return only to be made late to the wedding by Yankee traffic. Whoever invented the roundabout should be beat with a stick! I finally make it back to the church and only end up being about five minutes late. The wedding was beautiful, the bride looked amazing as did the groom. It was a short and sweet ceremony. We then proceeded down the street to the Fleet Reserve Club for the reception. The wedding was small and very intimate as far as number of people so they had reserved a private room at the fleet club. The room was deck out to the 9's complete with an incredible Christmas tree in the back corner. They had a live jazz band and a great buffet. We relaxed and danced the night away and then sent the happy couple off in a hail of bubbles. We closed the night out with a long chilly walk back to our cars and then off to our prospective hotels. Mia and I flew back the next morning and spent the rest of our Sunday relaxing and soaking up time with each other catching up on TIVO'd shows. We had a really good time in Annapolis and were fortunate enough to catch up with some old friends along the way and even made a few new ones too. Maryland is nice but we sure where happy to be back in warm and sunny Texas...
